How to install WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition (IICE)

IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition installation
     These are required softwares for full IICE installation. Each software would have prerequisite hardware and software requirements, you can see more informations in the links below. The installation procedure might be complete only with corresponding version.

  • DB2 UDB V8.2
  • Based Version : DB2 UDB V8.1
    Extension : Fixpack 7A

  • WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation (WBISF) V5.1.1
  • Based Version : WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation (WBISF) V5.1

    IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition configuration
         After installation has been completed, you must configure these steps below completely before working with IICE.

    1. Deploying
         IICE_HOME – The WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition installation directory.
         WAS_HOME – The WebSphere Application Server installation directory.

         After deploying has been completed, it should be configured to use repositories.

    Beware this step It is incomplete step, refer to Reference

    Problem Errors are returned when testing the connection to IBM? DB2? Content Manager after configuring the connector according to the WebSphere? Information Integrator Content Edition information center.

    Cause Step 2 of the “Configuring the IBM DB2 Content Manager connector” section of the WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition information center is incomplete.
    Solution
    1. Copy the cmbsdk81.jar, cmbview81.jar and cmb81.jar files from the CMB_ROOT/lib
    directory into the IICE_HOME/lib directory, where CMB_ROOT is the IBM DB2
    Content Manager installation directory and IICE_HOME is the content integration server installation directory, to add the files to the RMI proxy connector server CLASSPATH statement.
    2. Copy the db2java.zip file from the DB2_ROOT/java directory into the IICE_HOME/lib directory, where DB2_ROOT is the IBM DB2 Universal Database installation directory, to add the file to the RMI proxy connector server CLASSPATH statement.

    3. Configuring and administering content integration server

    4. Enabling event notification through subscriptions
         Subscription event services provide a subscription-based event notification service for any addressable repository item, such as content, folders, work items, work queues, queries, federated queries, and item finders. Users can be notified of any changes to subscribed items.

    Net Search Extender installation and configuration
         These steps are installation and configuration for full text search functionality. You must have a Net Search Extender installation file corresponding version with DB2 UDB, and its licensed file.
    1. Put the licensed file named ?db2nse.lic? to SQLLIB/bin folder. Then open command to SQLLIB/bin, run ?db2licm ?a [license_file_name]?.
    2. Run file named ?db2nse820win.exe?, once extraction finished you will see /windows/install/setup.exe, run the setup file. It will ask you username and password they must be the same as DB2 UDB.
    3. Enable Net Search Extender for ICMNLSDB database
         a. Go to DB2 UDB control center.
         b. Right click on ICMNLSDB database, select the Net Search Extender and Enable database for text.
    4. Enable Net Search Extender for IBM DB2 Content Manager
    Open System administration client
         ? Enable for library server
            a. Select Library server configuration
            b. Open tab Features, choose Enable Text Information Extender. Click Ok.
         ? Enable for item type you would like to use full text search.
            a. Select Data Modeling>Item types>Definition tab.
            b. Choose Text searchable and configure options.
    5. Run ?db2text start? before use full text search functionality.
